Do you ever get to work too early? Like you don’t know if you should hang around a coffee shop a bit or put in an extra 20 minutes. It was just one of those days, when I was not in the mood to go in early. I googled on my phone for open places near me.
Good ol’ Bennison’s showed up on the search results. Bennison’s is a favorite bakery at work. Many times I’ll see a box of baked goods in the kitchen. However, I’ve never bought anything from the store…until now.
Walk in and you see displays on top of displays that would satisfy any sweet tooth. I’m not a macaron fan, but the colors are so pleasing to the eye. My favorite part of the bakery is it posts its personal macaron recipe on a giant poster. For someone who has baked 8 batches of macarons only to get 1 good batch, I can use all the help I can get.
I read the sign as I waited. The line was long in the morning; People are buying cakes, getting breakfast and who knows what. As the line wound down, I was feeling the pressure to make a decision. I didn’t want to hold up the line behind me. I made a game time decision for a raspberry danish, but had to go with the cheese since there wasn’t any available. Hmm… must be a popular pastry.
It was still good though, especially with my warm green tea. I got to work right on time, and it couldn’t have been a better day. Well-hydrated and well fed, I started the day strong and in a great mood. Should I be worried? I feel like I just opened Pandora’s box to some indulgences.
