Thoughts on the Nomad Lifestyle

It is everywhere! Pictures and pictures of Instagram influencers living the nomadic lifestyle. Every week, sometimes days, you see a new mountain peak or mirrored lake on their feed.

I won’t lie.

It can be difficult looking at those photos without wondering what it would be like to live like that. Especially when I was depressed at my previous job, toying with the idea brought me some relief because I love traveling so much.

Also, while looking hard for a job and getting rejections, I would think if I should take the big risk and just drop everything to live on a tropical island too.

However, now that things have calmed down, I know that I would never be able to do that. I definitely admire anyone who can, but I am at the point in my life where I need stability.

I want to get married and have a family. All of which, I can still bounce from place to place. But I want my kids to live in a home, where they can run to their best friend’s house to play Legos or hopping into the limo with his friends for prom.

To me that is the definition of a childhood; I don’t want to rob my future kids of that.

So I will continue to admire from afar and travel when I can, but that life isn’t for me. I want to prioritize other things in my life. Therefore, I won’t be able to write remotely like those influencers (I am nowhere near their level anyways). That is OK. For my blogging, it will be a real reflection of my lifestyle.

No need to put any unnecessary pressure on myself.

Ciao,

Amy

I’m the same – I don’t think I could live the nomadic lifestyle for very long! Just living abroad now has made me appreciate my friends and family in a way I never previously had, and I can’t wait to get back to them!
That lifestyle looks great, but for the long term.. not for me. I agree with you about the stability too, and the future family. Nice read 😊

Hey Diandra. Yes, it is definitely nice to think about, especially when I wanted to escape my current situation. However, things are good and I don’t want to change that. The nomadic lifestyle is not for everyone. Thanks for reading!
