Hi my globe trotters,
Some of you may know that Chicago is one of the food capitals of the U.S. There is a restaurant on every corner ranging from Turkish to Chinese. It is literally any foodies dream.
Mr. Lumberjack and I decided to go on a lunch date before we headed out for drinks. Since we were open to travel anywhere, we went to our favorite neighborhood in all of Chicago, the West Loop.
The West Loop developed only in the past few years, and there is still construction expanding the neighborhood. All the hip restauranteurs knew this was going to he the next “IT” place, so you will see one-of-a-kind, high-end restaurants pop up.
We wanted to go to Duck Duck Goat, because we loved Stephanie Izzard’s Girl & the Goat restaurant. The chef puts a spin onto dim sum options with usually undesirable parts of the pig, duck meat or goat parts. She really knows when to slip in a piece of goat to the most traditional dishes.
Duck Duck Goat is also in the restaurant group called the Boka Restaurant Group, which includes many other delicious places, such as Momotaro, Boka, Little Goat, etc. We are working on going to all those good places, in good time.
While we were at Duck Duck Goat, we noticed the decor. I think it was one of the most beautiful things I saw. I can see the Chinese influence, but it was also very contemporary.
The waiter suggested 6 dishes between the two of us. We ordered all the good things like goat xiao long bao, cucumber salad, pork fried rice, etc, already knowing we would be stuffed just like at Girl & the Goat.
Because I was so stuffed, I needed something to cut through the lip-smacking grease. I got a nice black tea along with a coconut cream dessert.
TO. DIE. FOR.
And honestly, the bill wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. It was around $130 for 5 dishes, 1 beer, 1 tea and 1 dessert. Seriously, go give this place a try.
