Chicago Eats: The Dawson

Hi globetrotters,

I discovered a new gem thanks to my friend. We passed by it a couple of times on our way to the West Loop, but for some reason the name is always hard to remember.

After some googling, I found the name and location. The Dawson is in the River West neighborhood, which is north of the bustle of the West Loop.

The inside is so beautiful, but it was nice out, so we requested outdoor seating on the patio. Get ready to be under some wooden bars with outdoor lightbulbs, fireplace or heating lamp.

Our server greeted us and he was so nice. He was very happy, and he was in a good mood throughout the mean since we stayed really long. Below are some of the things we ordered. Note: One of them do not look appetizing but it was a delicious pistachio mole. So no judging.

Burrata!
Fried squash blossoms stuffed with fresh cheese and pistachio mole.
My sides turned into entree: shishito peppers in fermented bean and lime sauce.
This is my friend’s dessert: chocolate sundae. Mine was a cheesecake but I forgot to take a picture.

Notice the light change between the photos. I think we managed to stay there for 2.5 hours. It is just such a great environment to socialize.

The Dawson does serve breakfast too, so expect a second review on the food and early bird vibe.

Ciao,

Amy
