Hola everyone,
I am in Peru! For those who don’t know, Cusco is the closest airport to Machu Picchu. The city is very elevated, so if you are not used to that, you have to get acclimated to the elevation.
In total, we spent about 3 days in Cusco. There are a few things that stood out to us.
1. Plaza de Armas
This is the mains square. There are many structurally beautiful buildings, with some touristic restaurants like KFC. The square is very park-like.
2. San Pedro Market
This is a very large, and in charge, markst. You have people selling clothes, souveniors and food. Locals go here too. Since we have been bargaining for fruit everywhere we wet, we found this market didn’t charge us those precios gringos.
3. San Blas District
This district is definitely renovated for tourist. You have the high-end hotes (still at a reasonable price in USD). There are many stairs and small allsys, which are great for photos. We didn’t stay too long since the altitude caught up to my mom.
4. Qorikancha
Now a museum, this once was a ruin of an Inca temple. We didn’t go inside, but I loved the gradeur of the place. We stayed near here, so we always passed by it; it seemed like this place always had a lot of life.
5. Llamas
Llamas are everywhere, but I wanted to get up and close to one. So just find alocal hoarding some lamas and take a picture. They say propinas son voluntario (tips are voluntary) to eentice you, but it really ain’t free. I gave 1 sole per person.
Ok, let me what you think. Have you been to any of these places?
Comment what information you would like to see next on Peru.
Ciao,
Amy
