Chicago Eats: Royal Palms

Hi Wonders,

How are you all? I hope you are A) staying safe B) finding ways to enjoy your summer and C) being happy. I’ve been really enjoying this place called the Royal Palms. It’s near the Blue Line (Chicago train), and you can see their cute roof top. Right in the center is a shuffleboard. Well I was in the area and the thing is on ground level, you would never think this building is fun. There are no signs, the little windows it has is tinted. You wouldn’t think twice.

Well don’t pass up that giant, green building. Inside are lines of shuffleboards. It’s $50/hour to play and it’s really fun. You’ll understand the rules quickly and the vibe is like you’re on a cruise ship. There are some little games as well like Connect 4 and Ring Toss. Sometimes it’s nice to have activities to do, instead of just sitting to eat.

Also, the drinks are so good, especially the mixed ones. I normally do not like drinking, but they have this drink called Pidgeon. It’s their take on a paloma. So freaking good. Lavendar syrup and have no idea what is even in there. I got like 4 last time.

In regards to food, don’t depend on it for a legitimate meal. They have an area for food trucks to come. However, foods trucks are scheduled for specific times. They aren’t always there. Don’t worry though. Royal Palms is located in Bucktown near the 6 corners (Damen Ave, North Ave and Milwaukee Ave), a cross-section with food options galore.

We enjoy coming here, because it’s a different experience than restaurants. Let me know what you think if you do go.

Ciao,

Amy
